PM Modi should be thankful to Abdullahs for facilitating J&K accession to India: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Sep 20 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be grateful to the Sheikh family (Abdullahs) for their significant role in facilitating Jammu and Kashmir's accession to India.
“I believe that Modi should be thankful to Sheikh Sahib ( National Conference founder) and his family who played a key role in the accession of Jammu and Kashmir with the Union of India”, Mehbooba told media persons in Srinagar.
She alleged that “when National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah was the Minister in the BJP government at the Centre, he introduced Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of its official confirmation and banned the Kashmir craft Shahtoosh ”.
“BJP sent Omar to every country just to convey that Jammu and Kashmir was not an issue but an issue of terrorism and it should be resolved by resorting to an attack on Pakistan”, the PDP president said.
“I feel that BJP should be thankful to Omar who implemented their agenda in Jammu and Kashmir”, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said and added that “BJP used Omar for their own cause”.
Mehbooba claimed that BJP stood at the doors of PDP for three months and pleaded to form a government with them on whatever the conditions were there. “We formed the government on certain conditions including not touching article 370, to open roads with Pakistan, end the Armed Forces Special Powers (AFSP) Act, and hold talks with Pakistan and Hurriyat people in Kashmir.
In reply to a question, the PDP Chief said that “In my opinion if Abdullah’s family had implemented the agenda of Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir would not have been a part of India and either it would have been a part of Pakistan or an independent state”.
Asked about the Pakistan Defence Minister Asif Khawaja's statement about the NC-Congress manifesto and the Prime Minister yesterday saying that Pakistan is celebrating it, Mehbooba said “I feel BJP has failed on every front.
BJP had claimed that they would provide 2 crore jobs every year which in ten years became 10 crore jobs".
She alleged that after playing the Hindu, Muslim card, lynching of Muslims and destroying Mosques in the country, now they are talking about the Pakistan. This is just their failure which forces them to speak anything”.
