PM Modi Begins Five-Nation Tour Focused on Energy Security, Technology and Europe Ties

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday embarked on a six-day tour of the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy, with India seeking to deepen strategic partnerships, secure long-term energy supplies, and expand cooperation in emerging technologies amid continuing geopolitical uncertainty and disruptions in global trade routes.
The visit, one of Modi’s most expansive diplomatic engagements in recent years, comes against the backdrop of tensions in West Asia, concerns over global energy flows, and India’s push to strengthen economic and security partnerships with Europe following the conclusion of the India-European union Free Trade Agreement earlier this year.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said the Prime Minister would engage with several world leaders “across a wide-ranging agenda aimed at strengthening India’s global partnerships.” Officials said the tour would focus on trade and investment, energy security, semiconductors, green transition, artificial intelligence, resilient supply chains, defence cooperation, and people-to-people ties.
