PM launches extension of ‘Swamitva Yojana’ across India

Lucknow, Apr 24 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the distribution of e-property cards under the Swamitva Yojana across the country.

On the occasion of the Panchayati Raj Diwas, in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the PM digitally distributed the property cards (Gharauni) to 57,401 villagers of 425 villages of Uttar Pradesh.
It is a matter of fact that Uttar Pradesh, under the leadership of CM Yogi, is at the forefront of providing ‘gharauni’ to the real owners of the houses. A total of 1409 villages of Uttar Pradesh have got the benefit of this scheme till now.

Over 4.09 lakh property owners across the nation have been given their e-property cards, paving the way for villagers to use the property as a financial asset for taking loans and other financial benefits.

Earlier, on October 12, 2021, as many as 41,431 villagers from 346 villages of 37 districts of UP were digitally given the certificates of ownership in the presence of the PM.

On December 15, 2021, CM Yogi handed over the rural residential records to as many as 10,041 villagers of 229 villages. Later, on February 12, 2021, a total of 2,09,016 villagers of 1001 villages from 11 districts in the state received ‘gharauni’.
While launching the event via video conferencing, the PM said that while the country is fighting a battle against deadly coronavirus, the central government is totally committed to the welfare of the people.
“This scheme will not only boost rural development but will also eliminate the corruption in the villages,” he added.
The Prime Minister also conferred the National Panchayat Awards 2021, on Saturday, under these categories- Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (to 224 Panchayats), Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar (to 30 Gram Panchayats), Gram Panchayat Development Plan Award (to 29 Gram Panchayats), Child-friendly Gram Panchayat Award (to 30 Gram Panchayats) and e-Panchayat Puraskar (to 12 States).
For the first time, the Prime Minister also transferred the award money (as Grants-in-Aid), ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, by clicking a button. The amount will be directly transferred to the bank account of the Panchayats concerned in real-time.
Describing the importance of panchayats in the country, the PM said, “Panchayats and villages are the most important parts of our democracy. Villages play a key role in our India’s progress and making it ‘atmanirbhar’.”

Stating that together the people of India can fight COVID-19, PM said that it should be ensured that more and more people get vaccinated as government expands the vaccination drive from May 1 and people above 18 years can get inoculated.
“We also have to ensure that guidelines issued from the government are followed in villages," PM Modi added.

Under the Swamitva Yojana, the land in rural populated areas will be mapped using modern technologies including the use of drones to demarcate the land. This scheme will also make it easier for villagers to avail loans from banks.
Last year, under the pilot project, ‘Swamitva Yojana’ was launched in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
Calling ‘Swamitva Yojana’ a major revolution towards rural empowerment, CM Yogi Adityanath had said that ‘Gharauni’ is not just a government paper to give the ownership of the land, rather it is a mode of boosting people’s confidence, instilling self-esteem, and making them self-reliant.
It is worth mentioning that according to information received from the officials of the Board of Revenue, the work to provide ownership to the real owners to goof the houses built in the rural areas is to be completed by the year 2025.
