Plea against discrepancies in assets disclosed by TN Dy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin : Madras HC seeks reply from IT dept, Corp Affairs Ministry

Chennai, Apr 15 (UNI) The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) and the union Ministry of Corporate Affairs to file its reply on a writ plea seeking a probe into the alleged material discrepancies in the assets disclosed in the election affidavits by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in 2021 and 2026.
When the writ plea filed by one, R. Kumaravel (56), a resident of Chepauk-Triplicane Assembly constituency from where Udhayanidhi, who is also the DMK Youth Wing Secretary and son of Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin, is seeking re-election for a second successive term, was taken up for hearing, the First Bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan directed the IT department DG ad the Corporation Affairs Ministry to file its response and posted the matter to April 20 for next hearing.
During the hearing the Election Commission of India (ECI) submitted that appropriate action would be taken under the Representation of the People Act if any false affidavit is established.
