Pieter Elbers Steps Down as IndiGo CEO; Rahul Bhatia to Lead Airline in Interim

Hyderabad/New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI): Pieter Elbers has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of InterGlobe Aviation Limited , which operates India’s largest airline 'IndiGo', with immediate effect, the company announced on Tuesday.
The airline’s Board of Directors thanked Elbers for his service and contributions to the organisation and wished him well in his future endeavours.
Rahul Bhatia, Managing Director of IndiGo, will assume interim management of the airline’s affairs until a new chief executive is appointed.
Announcing the development, Board Chairman Vikram Singh Mehta said Bhatia’s return to day-to-day management would help strengthen the company’s culture, reinforce operational excellence and deepen its commitment to delivering reliable service to customers.
Bhatia, who co-founded the airline more than two decades ago, said he felt a strong sense of responsibility towards the airline’s customers, employees, shareholders and other stakeholders.
He added that IndiGo would continue focusing on service excellence, operational reliability and strengthening its position as a globally respected airline.
IndiGo, one of the world’s fastest-growing carriers, operates a fleet of over 400 aircraft with more than 2,200 daily flights, connecting 95 domestic and 40 international destinations.
The airline carried 124 million passengers in 2025 and was named the Best Airline in India and South Asia at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2025.

New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) The retail inflation for the month of March has been recorded at 3.40% on a year-on-year (yoy) basis. Corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban are 3.63% and 3.11%, respectively, data released by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) said.
Food inflation for March is 3.87% (Provisional) with the corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban are 3.96% and 3.71%, respectively. The MoSPI data said the onion prices fell by over 27 per cent, while potatoes saw a decline of nearly 19 per cent.
