People's blessings broke Devaraj Urs record: Siddaramaiah

Vijayapura, Jan 10 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday expressed gratitude to the people of the state, stating that it was their blessings, along with the support of party legislators and the high command, that enabled him to become Chief Minister for a second term and surpass the record of late Devaraj Urs.
Speaking after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for various development works at a programme organised by the Vijayapura district administration and Zilla Panchayat at the VB School grounds here, the Chief Minister said he had broken the record of Devaraj Urs, who served as Chief Minister for seven years and 239 days, solely because of the people’s mandate.
He said the achievement of becoming Karnataka’s longest-serving Chief Minister was possible only due to the blessings of the people, and for that he expressed his heartfelt thanks to the citizens of the state.
