Paris Diamond League 2025: Neeraj Chopra, Julian Weber to renew rivalry

Paris, June 20 (UNI) All eyes will be on India's Neeraj Chopra and Germany's Julian Weber as they renew their rivalry at the Paris Diamond League 2025 on Friday.
The highly competitive javelin event will see seven elite athletes trying to outdo one another.
Germany’s Julian Weber has beaten the Indian ace twice in 2025 to the pole position, first in the Doha Diamond League and then a week later in the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial.
Neeraj had breached the elusive 90 meter threshold with a 90.23m effort in the third round of the Doha Diamond League, he however was joined in the 90 m club by Weber, whose throw of 91.06m in the final round of the competition snatched victory away from Chopra.
Weber bettered Chopra at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial too as he threw the spear thrice beyond 85m while Neeraj could only manage a best of 84.14m with his last attempt which helped him end second.
Five out of the seven athletes have a personal best on above 90 meters. Also competing will be Grenada's Anderson Peters, the two-time world champion and Paris 2024 bronze medallist. Peters, has a personal best of 93.07m.
Chopra, a two-time Olympic medallist returns to the Paris Diamond League after a eight year gap, he last competed at the tournament in 2017 when he was a junior world champion.
Brazil's Luiz Maurício da Silva, Moldova's Andrian Mardare, Trinidad and Tobago's Keshorn Walcott and Kenya's Julius Yego will be the other athletes who will compete.

a Glasgow-based franchise taking part in this summer's inaugural European T20 Premier League (ETPL).
Gayle has partnered with Mugafi Group, an India-based entertainment business, with the team to be known as the Glasgow Mugafians. An investment group led by Rahul Dravid and Ravichandran Ashwin had been originally expected to take ownership of the ETPL's Glasgow franchise.

Copa del Rey defeat leaves two big injury worries for Atletico Madrid

Madrid, April 20 (UNI) Atletico Madrid has paid a worrying price for its defeat on penalties to Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday night, with the news that Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman and striker Alexander Sorloth both ended the game with "physical problems" that make them doubts for Atletico's Champions League semifinal against Arsenal.
Lookman was taken off after 62 minutes of the final, with Atletico trailing 2-1 after scoring his side's first goal in a match that ended 2-2 after extra time.
