Panic buttons to be installed at public places in Bihar soon: ADG

Patna, 20 May (UNI) In a major step to strengthen public safety, the Bihar government has decided to install panic buttons at all prominent public places across the state.
Additional Director General (Technical Services and Communication) Amit Lodha told news persons here on Wednesday at the police headquarters, Sardar Patel Bhawan, that the initiative will enable citizens to quickly alert authorities during emergencies. He explained that pressing the panic button in case of accidents, crimes, or any emergency will immediately send an alert to the Dial 112 Emergency Service, ensuring rapid deployment of police and rescue teams to the spot.
Lodha said the government is also working to expand the scope of Dial-112 and reduce its response time, which currently stands at around 11 minutes. He noted that the system’s capacity has increased by 15 per cent compared to last year, and efforts are underway to make it one of the leading emergency response services in the country. The number of trained personnel and vehicles will also be enhanced.
