Pangolin scales, drugs recovered in Mizoram

Aizawl, Mar 6 (UNI) Mizoram officials seized 98 kilos of pangolin scales at the Mizoram-Assam border in Vairengte town in Kolasib district and arrested the driver of the maxi-cab who was responsible for transporting the contraband on Tuesday, officials said on Wednesday.
State Excise and Narcotics Department officials on duty at the department check-gate in Vairengte discovered the scales of scaly anteaters while looking for illegal movement of drugs and liquor. The officials notified the officials of the Environment, Forests, and Climate Change at Kolasib town.
The seized pangolin scales were escorted by the Excise and Narcotics Department officials from Vairengte to Kolasib town, and the contraband and the accused were handed over to the Forest officials.
