Pak's Nadeem invited to Neeraj Chopra Classic

Bengaluru, Apr 21 (UNI) Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, the reigning Commonwealth Games gold medallist and a finalist at the Tokyo Olympics, has been invited to participate in the Neeraj Chopra Classic javelin meet, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra confirmed here on Monday.
"We have also invited Paris Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan as well but haven’t received a confirmation as of yet," Neeraj said told reporters.
The event, scheduled to be held in Bengaluru, is shaping up to be a marquee international meet with several top global throwers confirming their participation. Among those who have committed to compete are reigning world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, former world champion Julius Yego of Kenya, and American champion Curtis Thompson.
"We are thrilled to welcome some of the finest javelin athletes from across the world. The presence of Anderson Peters, Julius Yego, and Curtis Thompson will certainly raise the level of competition and inspire young Indian throwers," Neeraj said.
The Neeraj Chopra Classic is being billed as a flagship event for the sport in India, aimed at generating excitement and momentum in the build-up to the Paris Olympics later this year.
