Pak Deputy PM Ishaq Dar postpones Bangladesh visit following Pahalgam terror attack

Islamabad/Dhaka, Apr 25 (UNI) Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to Bangladesh has been postponed in light of the Pakistan-backed terror attack in Pahalgam, which has led to rising tensions with India.
“Owing to unforeseen circumstances, the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan is unable to undertake the visit to Bangladesh on 27-28 April 2025,” said Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement announcing the postponement of Dar’s visit to Dhaka which would have been the first such by a Pakistani Foreign Minister since 2012.
The new dates for the visit will be finalised through mutual consultations, it added.
The visit was being highly anticipated in Dhaka with Bangladesh and Pakistan becoming increasingly friendly since the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August last year. The two countries last week conducted their first Foreign Office Consultations in more than 15 years.
