Overreliance on Foreign AI could expose India to strategic risks: Survey

New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) Warning that Artificial Intelligence is fast becoming a geostrategic asset, the Economic Survey 2025-26 has cautioned that overdependence on foreign AI systems could expose India to technological and geopolitical vulnerabilities.

The Survey notes that control over advanced chips, computing infrastructure and frontier AI models is increasingly concentrated, creating a "fundamental asymmetry" in which only a few countries and firms shape global standards, pricing and technological direction.
