Over 800 kms of state highways would be developed into national highway

Hubballi, Jan 15 (UNI) Union Minister for National highways and Roads, Mr Nitin Gadkari has declared a grant of Rupees 21,000 (Twenty-one thousand) Crores for the development of a total length of 847 Kilometers of National Highways in various parts of North Karnataka Region and the works will begin during this coming year.
He said the proposed Amount of Rupees Twenty one thousand Crores will be spent on a total of 13 different projects including a four-line 30 Kilometers Bypass road between Hubballi and Dharwad costing Rupees 1200 Crores, a 4-line 69 Kilometers ring Road in Belgaum costing 2800/- Crores and Six projects between Belgaum and Konkan Area costing a total amount of Rupees 12500/- Crores. In addition, already there are about 21 (Two one) Highway Development Projects costing a total amount of Rupees 6300/- (Six three zero zero zero) Crores, including Hubballi-Hopet, Haveri-Hubballi, Belgaum-Khanapur Etc., are in different stages of construction/development and will be completed soon.
Furthermore, Three Express Highways have already been sanctioned between Chennai-Bengaluru, Mumbai-Goa and Goa-Karnataka which will greatly help the Economic Development of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and the Goa States, he said and added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to launch the work on the Chennai-Bengaluru Express Highway. The expected project of Mumbai-Goa is Rupees 18000 Crores and Goa-Karnataka Rupees 12,000 Crores, he said.
