Outbreak of fall armyworm worries Hamirpur farmers

Hamirpur (HP), July 1 (UNI) Farmers in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh are worried over the outbreak of fall armyworm which continue to damage their maize crop.
This pest is reported to have travelled from the US to India along with hybrid seeds. These insects feed on the leaves and stem of the maize plant and due to blotting on the leaves the plant get destroyed.
Maize is the main crop of the district and buyers from other parts of the country visit Hamirpur villages to purchase maize corns.
