One Goddess metal idol seized, four arrested by TN Idol Wing cops

Chennai, May 17 (UNI) A Goddess Amman idol was seized by the Tamil Nadu
Idol Wing CID police and four persons were arrested in this connection.
An official release here said based on specific information, a special team
in Tirunelveli Range in the southern district conducted vehicle check on NH
at Thoothukudi.
The team found a blue colour Suzuki Alto K-10 car near Arasan Chamber,
Vadavallanadu.
The team searched the car and found four persons were in the car, in which
one Vignesh was in possession of gunny bag containing an Amman metal
Idol measuring about 2 feet.
On enquiry Vignesh confessed that about a month back, he along with Pratab,
Thangasathish, and Vetrivel broke open the godown of one Kannan, located
near APC Mahalaxmi College, Thoothukudi town.
They also broke open the locker of one metal container and stole the Idol.
After enquiry, all the fur were arrested and metal idol and the car was seized.
All the four accused were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate,
Madurai and remanded in judicial custody till May 21.
The aAccused have been lodged in District Prison Virudhunagar.
Investigation is being conducted to trace the source of the idols.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 13 (UNI) The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) on Tuesday registered a crucial victory in the special election to the newly constituted Vizhinjam ward of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, dealing a significant setback to the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in a keenly fought civic contest that had wide political ramifications.
According to official results, Congress candidate K.H. Sudheer Khan, representing the UDF, won the Vizhinjam seat by a narrow margin of 83 votes, polling 2,902 votes.
