Omar defends passing of resolution on J&K special status in Assembly

Srinagar, Nov 8 (UNI) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday defended the resolution that was passed by the Assembly which sought restoration of Special Status for Jammu & Kashmir.

Speaking during the motion of thanks to the Lieutenant Governor’s address on the last day of the Assembly session, he said the resolution reflects the will of the people while avoiding outright rejection by the central government.

Landslide scare at Chamba-Bharmour road amid rain alert in Himachal

Shimla, June 14 (UNI) A major tragedy was averted on the Chamba-Bharmour road between Sanwara and Bhutshangi on Saturday after massive landslides and a boulder blocked the route. Authorities acted swiftly after a warning was issued when smaller stones began rolling down. A huge boulder eventually crashed onto the road and tumbled into the valley, creating a dust storm downstream. No casualties were reported, and efforts are on to restore vehicular movement.
