Odisha unveils new transfer policy for OAS officers to boost transparency and efficiency

Bhubaneswar, April 16 (UNI) In a move aimed at ensuring a more effective, transparent, and responsive administrative system, the Odisha government has introduced a comprehensive new transfer policy for officers of the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS). As per the policy, an OAS-A (Junior Branch) officer cannot remain posted in a single district for more than six consecutive years, and no officer will be allowed to serve in the same district for over ten years during their entire service period, including leave.
The policy also stipulates that foreign service deputation for OAS-A (JB) officers will be permitted for a maximum of seven years. Posting in an officer’s home district will generally not be allowed. However, relaxation may be granted within two years prior to retirement based on individual requests, though such officers will not be appointed as Tahsildars or Block Development Officers.
Special provisions have been made for officers with disabilities. Those with 40 per cent or more disability, who require family support, may be considered for transfer based on their representation.
