Odisha: Railways launch mass awareness drive to prevent accidents at level crossings

Bhubaneswar, June 9 (UNI) As part of the observance of International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) 2026, the Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway conducted a week-long Special Safety Awareness Campaign from June 3 to June 9 across various level crossing gates under its jurisdiction, culminating in a major public awareness programme on Tuesday.
ILCAD is a global initiative aimed at promoting safety at railway level crossings and reducing accidents through public awareness. The theme for this year's observance was “Alert Today, Safe Tomorrow.”
To mark the occasion, a special awareness programme was organised at Level Crossing Gate No. 185 between MCS and BRAG stations under the Khurda Road Division. Railway officials carried out a series of awareness activities, including mass counselling, distribution of leaflets, display of banners and posters, and dissemination of safety messages to educate road users and pedestrians about safe practices at railway level crossings.
