Odisha: Man sentenced to 5 years RI for killing wife

Balasore, Feb 29 (UNI)Special Judge OPID court and Additional sessions Judge Biswajit Das on Thursday sentenced a murder accused to five years RI along with a Rs 5,000 fine and six months more jail term in default of penalty.
The convict Madhi Majhi, a resident of Khantapara was arrested on the charge of killing his wife Tikili Singh by forcefully drowning her in an inebriated state in February 2022 following a complaint from the father of the deceased.
The accused was convicted under section 304(II) of IPC and the court pronounced the verdict after examining 12 witnesses and 18 exhibits, said Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Panda.
