Odisha launches massive irrigation push to built 3000 new check dams

Bhubaneswar, Dec 11 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced an ambitious irrigation expansion plan under the Adibandh Construction Scheme – 3.0, targeting the construction of 3,000 new check dams and the renovation of 2,000 existing ones over the next five years.
The initiative aims to create irrigation facilities for nearly 48,000 hectares of agricultural land and has been allocated Rs.2,738 crore.
At the 13th Recruitment Fair here, the Chief Minister inaugurated 101 new check dams across 22 districts, built at a cost of Rs.70.27 crore, which will provide irrigation to 2,416 hectares of farmland.

BJD slams Odisha govt amid concern over proposed termination of Bhubaneswar-Dubai direct flight

Bhubaneswar, Jan 21 (UNI) The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday slammed the BJP-led government in Odisha for the proposed termination of tri-weekly direct flight service from Bhubaneswar to Dubai saying that “it exposes the inefficiency of the government to safeguard the larger interest of air travellers to the global travel hub”.
