Odisha intensifies emergency planning to counter any potential cyclone threat

Bhubaneswar, May 12 (UNI) Odisha has stepped up its disaster preparedness machinery to tackle any possible cyclonic threat, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) clarified that there is currently no cyclone threat along the Odisha coast.
A high-level pre-cyclone preparedness meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Tuesday reviewed the State’s readiness to respond swiftly to any unforeseen weather emergency and underscored the government’s determination to maintain Odisha’s strong track record in disaster management.
The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary D.K. Singh, DG Fire Services Dr. S. Sarangi, Special Relief Commissioner, senior IMD officials, ODRAF representatives, and Secretaries of key departments.

Kolkata, Jun 6 (UNI) In what is being seen as the most ambitious railway infrastructure package announced for West Bengal in recent years, union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday unveiled railway projects worth nearly Rs 1 lakh crore, including a proposed Delhi-Siliguri bullet train corridor, 102 Amrit Bharat stations, 538 flyovers and underpasses, 61 new railway projects and a major expansion of the Kolkata Metro network.
