Odisha Assembly approves hike in salary, allowance & pension for legislators

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9 (UNI) The Odisha Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed four bills on the last day of the winter session to increase the salaries and allowances of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Ministers, MLAs, and other office-bearers.
The pension for former MLAs has also been revised. The revised structure will take effect retrospectively from June 5, 2024.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, while moving the bills, said the revision was necessary due to rising inflation and based on the recommendations of the Advisory Committee of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
