Odisha accords Habitat Rights to three PVTGs

Bhubaneswar, Aug 8 (UNI) Odisha has become a leading state in the entire nation to accord Habitat Rights to the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) under the Forest Rights Act (FRA).

With the recognition of the Habitat Rights of Juangs, in tribal-dominated Keonjhar district on August 7 by the District Level Committee (DLC), Odisha has become a forerunner with three Habitat Rights recognized for the PVTGs, the maximum in India.

Mamata urges Centre to call special Parliament session after MPs' diplomatic push

Kolkata, May 23 (UNI) Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday expressed her happiness over all-party delegations' visits abroad as part of the country's diplomatic outreach post-Pahalgam terror attack by Pakistan-backed terrorists. She said a special Parliament session should be called after the return of these MPs, drawn from both Houses, including from her party, the TMC.
Mamata had initially disagreed with the Union government for unilaterally naming TMC MP Yusuf Pathan as a member of the parliamentary team meant to articulate India's zero tolerance message against terrorism in global platforms following the Pahalgam massacre and the subsequent Operation Sindoor.
