NUSS procedure performed on Maldivian woman with sunken chest

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 28 (UNI) The medical team at KIMS-Health has successfully performed the NUSS procedure on a 21-year-old female patient from the Maldives.
She was admitted to the hospital after experiencing shortness of breath. Following a thorough medical evaluation by multiple departments, she was diagnosed with pectus excavatum, commonly known as a sunken chest.
This congenital chest wall defect causes the breastbone and ribs to sink inward, restricting the function of the heart and lungs. The condition affects approximately one in every 300 children worldwide.
