NSMER conference opens in Ranchi, recalls P N Bose

Ranchi, May 10 (UNI) The National Conference and Expo on Sustainable Mining and Ecological Restoration (NSMER) began here on Sunday, with speakers recalling the legacy of geologist Pramatha Nath Bose and stressing the need to balance mineral development with ecological restoration. The three-day event, being held from May 10 to 12 at the Indian Institute of Coal Management, is being organised by Vijnana Bharati Jharkhand in collaboration with the Central University of Jharkhand and other research institutions.
Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jharkhand Prof Sarang Medhekar said the conference was dedicated to Bose and his contribution to India’s scientific and industrial development. He said Bose’s work in identifying the iron ore deposits of Mayurbhanj had helped lay the foundation of the Indian steel industry.
Medhekar said the conference would focus on sustainable mining, ecological restoration and the transition to Mining 4.0 through smart sensors, digital mapping and AI-driven exploration to reduce environmental impact.

Congress asks Bihar govt to release pending salaries and pensions of University employees
