Notorious Naxalite with Rs 2 lakh reward arrested by Gadchiroli Police

Gadchiroli, Sep 14 (UNI) Gadchiroli Police have arrested a Naxalite, identified as Shankar Bhima Mahaka (32), who was wanted in multiple serious crimes, including murder, arson, and IED blasts, a senior police official said. A reward of Rs 2 lakh had been announced by the state government for his capture.
Mahaka, an active member of the Bhamragad Dalam and a resident of Parayanar village, is accused of burning 19 vehicles involved in road construction in January 2022, causing losses of nearly Rs 2 crore. He is also wanted for the murder of a civilian in Pengunda village and is a suspect in a case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The arrest took place on September 13 when two anti-Naxal squads conducted an operation in the Tirkameta forest under the Tadgaon police post. During the search, the team spotted a suspicious person, who was identified as Mahaka upon interrogation.
