Not compulsory to purchase some products with fertilisers: Bihar Minister : Minister

Patna, Jan 23 (UNI) Bihar Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav on Friday strongly warned traders not to force farmers to purchase some products with fertilisers, saying strict ation would be taken against those found not complying with the directive.
Yadav said on the basis of complaints received from farmers, instructions had been issued to traders not to force them to purchase some other products with fertilisers. It was totally unwarranted and unacceptable, as such practice was proving to be costly for farmers because overall expenses involved in their agricultural activities increased in such cases, he added.
"When the matter was investigated after complaints, it came to light that fertilisers companies were forcing retailers to sell some other products during sale of fertilisers", Minister said, adding that subsidised fertilisers like Urea, DAP, NPK and MOP could never be sold tagging with other products. "It is a totally illegal practice which would attract stringent action if any complaint was received", he added.
