UP: Naxalite commander killed in Varanasi encounter

Varanasi, Sep 20 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) shot dead Brijesh Ganjhu, alias Gopal Singh Bhokta, a commander of the banned Naxalite organisation, the Third Presentation Committee (TPC), in Jharkhand, during an encounter in the Ramnagar police station area in the district on Sunday morning. Brijesh was a resident of Lootu village in the Lawalaung police station area of Chatra district, Jharkhand. He had a reward of Rs2.5 million from the Jharkhand government and Rs5 million from the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
