UP CM Yogi launches 'Mission Rojgar', announces one lakh jobs in six months
Lucknow, Sep19 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday launched a fresh recruitment drive under 'Mission Rojgar', announcing that one lakh youths will be provided government jobs within the next six months.
At a programme in Lucknow, the chief minister handed over appointment letters to 818 newly selected candidates and congratulated them on their selection. "Keep counting; we will appoint more than one lakh youths in six months," Adityanath said, while targeting opposition leaders(Samajwadi Party) who have questioned the government's recruitment record. He said appointment letters would be distributed to around 1,000 youths on Sunday as well, adding that the recruitment process would continue uninterrupted.
The chief minister said 36,000 youths would be recruited into the Uttar Pradesh Police and another 41,000-42,000 into the Home Guards. Their medical and physical tests are currently underway, he said. Adityanath said the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) would announce results over the next six months, creating opportunities for 25,000-30,000 youths. Another 20,000-25,000 candidates are expected to be recruited through UPSSSC, with their results likely within three to four months, he added. He further said that following Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) examinations, around 15,000-16,000 candidates would receive appointments in various departments.
A short film on Mission Rojgar was screened during the programme. Adityanath said around 9.5 lakh youths had so far been provided appointments and reiterated the government's target of giving appointment letters to one lakh more youths within six months. "When commissions and boards do not become victims of government politics and the examination process is completed with integrity, the results also reflect the same," he said, congratulating officials of the UPPSC and UPSSSC.
The chief minister alleged that recruitment processes before 2017 were marred by corruption, favouritism and political interference. He said the previous government had failed to provide adequate employment opportunities to the state's youth, forcing many to seek opportunities outside Uttar Pradesh. He claimed that his government has expanded Mission Rojgar in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and sought to convert the state's large youth population into an economic strength. "When talented youth become the strength of UP, the state will establish itself as the number-one economy," Adityanath said. He also alleged that irregularities had affected recruitment during the previous Samajwadi Party government and accused those in power at the time of favouritism in appointments to commissions and boards.
"After the government was formed, zero tolerance was implemented in every field," he said, adding that his government had sought to ensure a transparent recruitment process. Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has made progress in per capita income, its economy, women's workforce participation and the state budget, claiming that each has increased threefold. He said Uttar Pradesh has remained revenue-surplus for six years and was now among the country's top three state economies.
The chief minister also highlighted the growth of the MSME sector, claiming that more than three crore people had received employment through the sector. He said the government has supported traditional artisans and craftsmen by providing them access to markets, technology and new platforms. "UP is exporting products worth lakhs of crores. Money is reaching craftsmen and artisans," he said. Adityanath also highlighted the state's startup ecosystem, saying the number of startups had increased from around 120 before 2017 to more than 24,000 at present.
The chief minister said the fourth edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) would be held in Gautam Buddha Nagar from September 25 to 29. He said around 650 foreign buyers and more than 2,500 exhibitors would participate in the event, where products made by the state's youth, craftsmen, artisans and entrepreneurs would be showcased. Adityanath said the government is reviewing the recruitment process, from the publication of advertisements to the distribution of appointment letters, with a focus on timely recruitment and merit.
He said the interview system has been abolished for Group C and Group D recruitments to reduce opportunities for manipulation. The chief minister also highlighted developments in the AYUSH sector, saying the Centre's initiatives had given traditional systems of medicine greater recognition and that Uttar Pradesh was expanding AYUSH universities, medical colleges and other institutions.
