180 trekkers stranded in Uttarakhand; 1,500 pilgrims rescued safely from Kedarnath route; rain, snow hamper rescue operation

Prithviraj Singh Dehradun, Sep 28 (UNI) As many as 180 trekkers were left stranded due to inclement weather in the high altitudes of Uttarakhand even as 1,500 pilgrims were rescued safely from the Kedarnath route after they were stuck along the way on Sunday night following a landslide. Majority of the stranded trekkers were in Uttarkashi of Garhwal while 43 were in Bageshwar of Kumaon. Heavy rain and snowfall in the higher hills of Uttarkashi and Bageshwar districts left 149 trekkers stranded since Monday morning.
