Landslide, falling rocks block Kedarnath pedestrian route near Gaurikund; Pilgrims moved to safety

Dehradun, Oct 10 (UNI) The Kedarnath pedestrian route near Chirbasa, ahead of Gaurikund, was blocked by a landslide on Saturday morning, prompting authorities to advise pilgrims on both sides to halt travel until the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) cleared the debris. According to Rudraprayag District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO), Nandan Singh Rajwar, Kedarnath route for pedestrian pilgrims was blocked due to debris and stones falling on the road at Chirbasa. Seeing it as a security threat local administration stopped pilgrims at Gaurikund on one hand and those on temple direction were asked to take to nearby safer locations. No sooner…
