Twin training programmes sanctioned to revive Kashmir's pottery, copperware crafts

Srinagar, Sept 22 (UNI) The union Ministry of Textiles has sanctioned twin training programmes to revive Kashmir's traditional Glazed Pottery and Copperware crafts under the Guru Shishya Hastshilp component of the National Handicrafts Development Programme (NHDP). An amount of Rs 14.90 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of Craft Development Institute (CDI) Srinagar for conducting the twin trainings, officials said. A spokesman of the Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Kashmir, said that the office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) acceded to the department's proposal for customised training to revive the fading crafts.
