Government notifies new accuracy and anti-fraud rules for electricity meters

Panchkula, Sep 20 (UNI) The Central government has announced new standards for electricity meters across India, setting strict requirements for measurement accuracy, software security, and protection against tampering, fraud, and adverse environmental conditions, as stated in an official gazette notification. The Legal Metrology (General) Fifth Amendment Rules, 2026, issued by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, were published in The Gazette of India.
