Varanasi: One lakh Chitala fish fingerlings to be released into the Ganga

Varanasi, Oct 6 (UNI) To enrich the aquatic biodiversity of the Ganga and conserve and promote the state fish Chitala, a river ranching program will be organised on October 8 at Assi Ghat in Varanasi. Approximately one lakh Chitala fish fingerlings will be released into the Ganga. According to the Fisheries Department, Special Secretary Fisheries Sunil Kumar Verma is scheduled to attend the program. Additional Director of Fisheries Anil Kumar or Deputy Director of Fisheries (Planning) are also expected to attend.
