J&K Assembly panel flags rampant encroachments around Anchar lake, seeks immediate action

Srinagar, Oct 15 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly's Committee on Environment on Thursday expressed serious concern over rampant encroachments in and around Anchar Lake, calling for immediate measures to remove illegal structures and retrieve encroached land in accordance with the law. The committee, headed by MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, conducted an extensive visit to Anchar Lake and its adjoining areas to assess the government's measures for conservation, restoration and pollution control, besides identifying further interventions required for the lake's effective protection and sustainable management.
