Haryana proposes Rs 1 lakh penalty for weighing rule violations, mandatory bills, tighter petrol pump checks

Panchkula, Oct 9 (UNI) The Haryana government has proposed a penalty of up to Rs 1 lakh for certain violations of legal metrology regulations, along with mandatory billing requirements for traders, tighter checks on petrol and diesel dispensing units and stricter disclosure norms for jewellers, under a comprehensive overhaul of the state's weights and measures enforcement framework. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has published the draft Haryana Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2026, proposing to replace the existing 2011 regulations.
