Lucknow, Oct 28 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified organisational activities in preparation for the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. In this regard, a meeting of the party's state executive committee is scheduled in Lucknow on October 30 and 31.
The two-day visit of union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is considered significant for this meeting. Senior party leaders, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, State President Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, will attend the meeting.
The meeting is expected to discuss preparations for the upcoming assembly elections, the state of the organisation, and the party's political challenges in the state. union ministers, state government ministers, MPs, MLAs, and state executive committee members will also participate.
Amit Shah is expected to review organisational preparations with party officials. During this meeting, discussions are expected to take place on organisational activism at the state and district levels, the allocation of electoral responsibilities, and future strategies. The meeting is also expected to discuss the performance of current MLAs and their report cards. The party faces the challenge of strengthening coordination between the organisation and public representatives before the upcoming elections. Issues such as the activity of workers in various areas, local public engagement, and the discharge of organisational responsibilities are also likely to be central to the discussions.
Amit Shah is considered a key strategist for the BJP with a deep understanding of Uttar Pradesh politics and electoral conditions. Therefore, his visit is considered crucial for preparations for Mission 2027. However, its direction will become clear only after the detailed agenda and potential decisions of the meeting are revealed. Amidst the election preparations in the state, the BJP also faces the challenge of managing workers' dissatisfaction and social dynamics. Complaints of dissatisfaction with the performance of MLAs are reportedly being raised in meetings held at various party levels.
A section of party workers alleges that newcomers and leaders from other parties have been given more importance in the organisation than older, experienced workers. In addition, the party may need to exercise political caution regarding issues such as UGC, reservations, and youth discontent. The reactions of various groups to these issues and local circumstances may play a role in shaping the strategy for the upcoming elections. It is noteworthy that the BJP's last state executive committee meeting was held in Lucknow on July 14, 2024. At the meeting, then-National President JP Nadda and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath discussed upcoming political challenges and organisational preparations.
Now, with the 2027 assembly elections in mind, the party faces the challenge of implementing that strategy and activating the organisation to meet the electoral needs. Meanwhile, several leaders from Uttar Pradesh have been given responsibilities in the national organisation of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Nikhil Mani Tiwari from Deoria and Harshvardhan Singh from Ayodhya have been appointed National General Secretaries. Nikhil Mani Tiwari was previously the President of the Awadh region of the Yuva Morcha, while Harshvardhan Singh held the position of State General Secretary. Vineet Vats Tyagi of Meerut has been appointed National Treasurer. He was previously the State Office Incharge of the Yuva Morcha. Shakti Singh of Mau, Shailendra Maurya of Prayagraj, and Satendra Awana of Noida have also been appointed to the National Executive Committee.
A senior BJP official stated that these appointments have increased the participation of Uttar Pradesh leaders in the national organisation of the Yuva Morcha. Considering the State Executive Committee meeting and the organisational changes within the Yuva Morcha together, the BJP is working to activate the organisation, assign new responsibilities, and accelerate election preparations ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
