Punjab appoints Gaurav Yadav as regular DGP aafter four yrs, ending officiating arrangement

Chandigarh, Oct 9 (UNI) The Punjab government on Friday appointed 1992-batch IPS officer Gaurav Yadav as the state's regular Director General of Police (Head of Police Force), ending a prolonged officiating arrangement of more than four years amid judicial scrutiny over the delay in making a permanent appointment. Yadav, who has headed the Punjab Police in an officiating capacity since July 2022, was selected from a three-member panel recommended by the union Public Service Commission (UPSC), according to an order issued by the state Home Affairs Department.
