UP: Govt launches Operation Safe Speed on expressways, highways

Lucknow, Oct 29 (UNI) In continuation of its effective steps to strengthen road safety and reduce fatalities in road accidents, the Traffic Directorate of the Uttar Pradesh Police conducted a special inspection campaign under 'Operation Safe Speed' on all expressways in the state. In two phases of the campaign, 6,777 vehicles were challaned and a total fine of Rs Rs1,38,32,500 was imposed. The objective of this campaign was to effectively curb drivers violating the prescribed speed limit and to raise public awareness about safe traffic practices.
