Haryana power employees call off strike as govt moves to challenge private distribution licence

Kamlesh Kali Panchkula, Oct 23 (UNI) Electricity employees and engineers in Haryana on Friday called off their three-day statewide strike following talks with Energy Minister Anil Vij, after the state government agreed to initiate action against the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission's (HERC) decision to grant a parallel power distribution licence to a private company in Gurugram and Nuh. Announcing the breakthrough after a meeting with representatives of electricity employees' unions in Panchkula, Vij said the government and employees were united in opposing the regulatory commission's decision and that officials had been directed to initiate the necessary legal proceedings without delay.…
