Centre expands eligibility for Census 2027 enumerators, includes private school teachers, bank and PSU staff

Panchkula, Oct 16 (UNI) The Centre has widened the pool of personnel eligible for appointment as census enumerators, bringing teachers of government and private educational institutions, bank employees, public sector undertaking (PSU) staff and officials of various organisations within the scope of enumeration duties ahead of Census 2027. The Ministry of Home Affairs, through the Office of the Registrar General of India, notified the Census (Amendment) Rules, 2026, on October 16, substituting the existing provisions relating to enumerators under Rule 3 of the Census Rules, 1990.
