Nora Fatehi to light up FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony in Toronto

Toronto / Los Angeles, June 10 (UNI) The FIFA World Cup 2026 opening celebrations will feature a series of high-profile pre-match ceremonies across host cities, with global performers and entertainment icons set to headline events in both Toronto and Los Angeles ahead of the tournament kick-off on June 12.
In Toronto, international performer Nora Fatehi is set to take centre stage at the opening ceremony, joining a diverse lineup of artists for one of the tournament’s most prominent cultural showcases.
The ceremony, scheduled before Canada’s opening match at Toronto Stadium, will bring together music, performance and football in a large-scale production designed to reflect global unity and Canada’s multicultural identity. The programme will also feature artists including Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Elyanna, Vegedream, Sanjoy and William Prince.
Organisers said the show will begin 90 minutes before kick-off, with stadium gates opening four hours in advance to accommodate pre-match entertainment and fan activations. The event will also include national anthem performances and an appearance by FIFA World Cup 2026 Ambassador Will Arnett, who will welcome supporters as part of the ceremony.
Meanwhile in Los Angeles, a separate star-studded opening ceremony will mark the United States’ opening match, featuring performances by Dan Shay for the United States national anthem and Purahei Soul for Paraguay’s anthem.
Actor and comedian Jason Sudeikis will appear as FIFA World Cup 2026 ambassador, engaging with fans and highlighting the tournament’s message of unity through football.
The Los Angeles entertainment lineup includes global stars such as Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla, promising a high-energy global showcase reflecting the scale and cultural reach of the World Cup.
According to organisers, both ceremonies aim to blend live music, choreography and fan engagement, setting the tone for the tournament’s North American edition with celebrations that highlight cultural diversity and entertainment on a global stage.
