Nongrang takes over as Meghalaya DGP

Shillong, May 20 (UNI) Idashisha Nongrang, who on Monday took over as the first woman director general (DGP) of the Meghalaya Police, said that it would be her endeavour to bring the police closer to the people by starting an ‘open house’ in the police headquarters for facilitating the public in general.
Talking to reporters after assuming office as DGP today, Nongrang said the state police will have an ‘open house’ every Thursday at the police headquarters here to address the grievances of the people.
“The perception that Meghalaya police are hostile to people should go. We will ensure that people benefit from the open house every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.,” she said.
