Bengaluru, July 22 (UNI) The Election Commission on Wednesday clarified that the names of 17.2 lakh Karnataka voters whose details could not be matched with the 2002 electoral rolls will not be deleted automatically, even as they will receive notices after the publication of the draft electoral rolls on August 17 for further verification.

The 17.2 lakh voters were identified during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) after their records could not be linked to the 2002 electoral database, which is being used as a key reference for the exercise.
