Nitish using caste categorisation to boost political fortune: Prashant

Patna, Mar 27 (UNI) Founder of Jan Suraaj Prashant Kishor on Thursday alleged that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was using caste categorisation to boost the electoral fortune of his party JD(U) in the state.
Kishor said that any state government had no right to place any caste under the list of Scheduled Castes(SCs) and Scheduled Tribes(STs), and Other Backward Classes(OBCs) as it was prerogative of the Centre. The state government could only recommend for inclusion of a particular caste under SCs or STs, but the final decision could be taken by the Centre, he added.
" Nitish had announced for inclusion of Tanti-Tatwa caste in SC list and sent recommendations to Centre in this connection ", Jan Suraaj leader said, adding that Nitish Kumar government had not pursued the issue seriously and also not placed the case properly in court. Such an approach resulted in the Tanti-Tatwa caste being sent back under the category of Extremely Backward Classes, he pointed out.
