New Delhi, July 11 (UNI) NITI Aayog convened a high-level stakeholder consultation to discuss the implementation framework of the SHANTI Act, 2025, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders and experts to deliberate on the operational roadmap for the landmark legislation.
The consultation, held here, was chaired by NITI Aayog Member Prof. Abhay Karandikar. Senior officials, including Ministry of Power Secretary Pankaj Agrawal, Central Electricity Authority Chairperson Ghanshyam Prasad, NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh, and representatives from the Department of Atomic Energy, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board and NITI Aayog, participated in the discussions.
The deliberations were organised around three key pillars considered critical to the Act’s rollout.
The first session focused on the legislative and regulatory framework, examining the draft rules and regulations under the SHANTI Act, 2025, along with foreign direct investment (FDI) policy provisions. Participants discussed statutory compliance mechanisms and ways to attract foreign investment while safeguarding domestic interests.
The second session addressed financing, insurance and public perception. Stakeholders explored financial and risk-mitigation mechanisms required for long-term projects, suitable insurance frameworks, and strategies to enhance public awareness and build confidence in nuclear energy projects.
The final session centred on manufacturing, operations and capacity building. Discussions highlighted the need to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities, improve supply chain resilience, ensure operational preparedness and develop a skilled workforce through dedicated capacity-building programmes.
According to NITI Aayog, the consultation generated a wide range of suggestions across the three thematic areas, which will help strengthen the implementation framework of the SHANTI Act, 2025.UNI SAS AAB
