Nissanka fastest Sri Lankan to 2,000 T20 runs

Abu Dhabi, Sept 13 (UNI) Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka today firmly established himself as one of the premier batsmen in T20 cricket, becoming the fastest Sri Lankan to reach 2,000 runs in the format.
Nissanka achieved the landmark in just 68 innings, surpassing Kusal Perera, who took 76 innings to reach the same milestone. His remarkable consistency in the Asia Cup 2025 has further highlighted his growing stature, with three half-centuries in seven innings so far.
Nissanka’s scoring ability has been complemented by India’s Virat Kohli, who leads the tournament in 50 scores with four in nine innings.
