Nishith Pramanik signals probe into “irregularities” in North Bengal projects; blacklisting warning for contractors

Siliguri, May 16 (UNI) Ahead of chief minister of Suvendu Adhikari’s scheduled North Bengal visit on May 20, administrative activity intensified at Uttarkanya, the branch secretariat in Siliguri, with North Bengal Development Department minister Nisith Pramanik holding a high-level review meeting with officials on Saturday.
Pramanik, who also holds the youth affairs and sports portfolio, later told reporters that several files related to “inconsistent and irregular reports” concerning development works executed during the past 15 years would be reopened for scrutiny.
Warning of strict action against errant contractors, the minister said the government possesses specific reports regarding substandard work carried out in different projects. “If allegations are proved, those contractors will be blacklisted and barred from participating in future tenders,” he said.
