Nirani Sugars to set up polylactic acid manufacturing unit in Bagalkot

Hyderabad, Feb 12 (UNI) Nirani Sugars Limited, one of India’s largest privately held sugar companies, which operates nine advanced sugar units across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Bihar, announced on Wednesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka to establish a state-of-the-art polylactic acid (PLA) manufacturing facility in Bagalkot.
With a proposed investment of around Rs 2,000 crore, the facility is set to be developed over the next 3 to 5 years and generate 600–800 direct employment opportunities in the region, the company said in a release.
The Karnataka government will facilitate Nirani Sugars in obtaining the necessary approvals, permissions, and incentives as per prevailing policies, ensuring a smooth and time-bound execution of the project.
