Nine juvenile arrested for rape of minor girl in Jaunpur

Jaunpur (UP), Apr 22 (UNI) Nine juveniles, including four co-accused, have been arrested by the police for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Shahganj area of Jaunpur district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Tuesday.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shailendra Kumar Singh said that in Shahganj Kotwali area of the district, a minor girl was raped by five juveniles late on Monday night and four other boys assisted them. "The condition of the victim became serious due to the gang rape and she was admitted to a hospital," he said.
He said that SP Dr Kaustubh constituted five teams to arrest the five accused and four co-accused. "Meanwhile, a tip off was received from an informer that the accused were gathering in a deserted building and planning to escape. On this information, the police team cordoned off the area and tried to arrest the accused," he said.
The ASP said that during this, the accused in a bid to flee jumped from the roof of the building. "While jumping from the roof of the building and running away, the accused got injured and were taken to the hospital by the police team," he said.
He said that mobile phones and other items were recovered from their possession. He said that within four hours of the incident, the accused and co-accused were arrested and necessary legal action was taken to send them to jail.
